a-)Ladies' Attires
Raw hide sandal: is worn throughout the
Mediterranean region. The footwear of the nomads living on the Taurus Mountains
is carried over to folk dances. It is generally made from the hide of oxen and
cows. Its sides are ornamented with cords made of leather. It has a sharp point,
wideninq towards the rear. When worn, strings made of goat hair ore; woven info
the cord ornaments and pulled together. To ensure durability, sandal is
subjected to o process called "puselemek".
Puseleme: The sandal is tarred inside and out. A hole
is made in the ground where the sandals are placed.
Ashes are spread around it. it stay's
underground for3-7 days after which it is dug out and worn.
Socks:
are mode of wool and woven by hand with wooden hooked needle. The embroiders are
woven on the sides and at the tip. It reaches to the knee.
Shalwar:
Baggy trousers made of silk satin or embroided cloth in eye-catching colours, it
is cut quite wide so that it would hang loosely and appear rich it has an
elastic drawstring at the waist and smocked heels.
Uc Etek:
It is worn over the shirt and underneath the emroidered |acket. Starting al the
waist, it is in three pieces, reaching down to the heel. It is made from
stripped cloth known as som Kutnusu. The borders and the edges of the skirt are
ornamented with cords and the inside is lined. There are mainly five types of üç
etek.
1-Telli
Uc Etek: It is embroidered by silver threads on pink
background, worn by brides
2-Şam
Alacasi Kutnu- made of multi-coloured damascuscloth.
3-Kaşık
Sapi - meaning spoon handle.
4-Suzme:
meaning strained, in yelow colour.
5-Zibin:
unembroidered shirt for everyday use.
Cepken: is
made from dork coloured velvet or coarse cloth. If reaches just under the chest,
with inner lining The ones made for women have notches at the tips of the
sleeves. The borders are embroidered with silver thread, silver and silk cords
in various designs.

Göynek: is made from hand-woven silk or silken cloths.
It is cut loose. It has a closed, round neck with no collar. It reaches down to
the knees and is hand embroidered around the the neck. It may or may not love
sleeves.
Dastar:
is woven at hand looms mainly at Uzumlu and Incirkoy. The edges have tassels or
pompons. Beads emroidery with coloured threads or lacework may be sewn to the
edges, if so desired.
Tepelik:
may be in dark red, purple or other colour it sits tightly on the head the fop
of which is fotolly covered with a plate of embroidered silver. The front of
this headgear is decorated with small gold or siver spangles in two, three or
more rows, which are called çelgi.
Çelgi:
is rows of gold or silver spangles sewn On an elastic band coiled around the
head.
Golan:
is a local woolen weaving with pompons or tassels at the end. Karanfil (Kokuluk):is
made from local plants and adorned over the ear; underneath the celgi.

Men's Attires
Çarık,
cepken and alvar are already described in ladies' attires;
Kuşak:
is woven at the local hand-looms. They are in more complicated and bright
colours for women and inwhite for men. At the edge of the belt, kolan is added
to be tied at the waist. The tips of women’s kolan has tassels. Dirkem belt is
worn by women and irkam belt is for men.
Kolan:
With a length of 2 meters and a width of 3 cms, it is wrapped around the irkam
belt. The weft and the warp are vowen from wool, goat hair and light rope. It
may be plain or with designs of flat-woven carpets.
Çaşır:
is vowen at hand-looms from lamb or goal hair in white, black or brown. It has a
drawnstring at the waist. The drownstring is embroidered with the tips hanging
loose after it is tied to the waist. The perineum is loose and hangs down,
getting narrower towaids the heels.
The smocking at the waist provides a
rich appearance. If desired, pockets may be added to the sides.
Göynek:
is vowen at the hand-looms at Uzumlu. It has a high collar which is not
embroidered.
Uçkurluk: is made from plain, white calico-type cloth,
embroidered at the tips.
Bağırtlak (Bartlak): is made of printed cloth fabric
manufactured at Nazilli, slit at the front and embroidered with local designs.
The portion in sight is in yellow with local motifs embroidered by black cord.
Kece
Bağlık: is a headgear worn by men, mode of feltlike
lamb's wool. It is worn by shepherds.
