BABA
The
grave of Nohutlu Baba is at the summit of the Mendos Mountain. At the right
time, chick-peas grow around the grave. These are not like the usually small
ones but are as arge as a thumb. If you go to Mendos when they are ripe, you can
eat as much fresh chickpeas as you like, but if you attempt to gather some to
take home, you are subjected to a hail of stones before you take one or two
steps. It is believed that Nohutlu Baba throws stones to whoever ventures to
take the chick-peas away.
