RAISING
LIVESTOCK
The nomadic culture of the people within
the region is illustrated most significantly in the mountain pastures and
sheltered places of those raising livestock. In the records of Makri Official
Sheep Counts, Fethiye heads the list of Mugla and its towns. However, the people
raisedc livestock not for sale but for their own needs and concentrated more on
agriculture. As of the year 2000, the cattle numbered 20.000, while the sheep
and goats totalled to 97.000 and poultry (chicken] to 400.000. The annual
production of milk is 27.000 tons, while that of meat is 450 Ions and eggs is
25.000.000.
